RowCal Expands to a New Market

The two oldest Real Estate companies in Colorado Springs were acquired by RowCal, a Management Company specializing in community association and single-family rental management services. The legacy of Bennett-Shellenberger Realty (130 years of service) and Haley Realty (73 years of service) will continue to serve the residents of The Springs. 

What Happens Now?

Tom Gorab, former owner of Bennett-Shellenberger Realty (BSR) will continue his leadership role as the President of Bennett-Shellenberger Realty, A RowCal Company. Haley Realty will merge with BSR and with their combined history of 203 years, they will serve over 10,000 HOA residents and 350 single family rentals in Colorado Springs. 

Charles Oliver, former owner of Haley Realty is set to retire following the merger. His service to his clients, his employees and his community have left an unforgettable impression of professionalism and kindness within our industry. Charles will now turn from owner to client as Bennett-Shellenberger Realty will continue the management of his personal portfolio of investment properties. 

Bennett-Shellenberger Realty

Bennett Shellenberger Realty (BSR) is the oldest realty company in the state of Colorado. Established in Colorado Springs in 1890 under the name of the Bennett Co. by Charles P. Bennett, a tradition of quality service has sustained the company’s longevity from then until now. The company began a year before the 1891 Cripple Creek gold mining rush and many of the old advertisements framed in the BSR conference room today reference this event and the effect it had on the growth of Colorado Springs. The original Bennett Co. was located at the center of town on the corner of Pikes Peak and Cascade Avenues alongside the Evening Telegraph newspaper. The original building distinguished by a carved Indian head, still stands today.

As the company expanded, Harry Shellenberger joined Bennett in 1911, establishing the present name of Bennett Shellenberger Realty (BSR). Present day owner, Thomas E. Gorab entered the company then owned by his father, Edmund A. Gorab, in 1976 to expand the management division becoming the sole owner in 1984. BSR has a proven history of providing professional residential sales and management and Community Association Management to the Pikes Peak region. The character of the company is best expressed in an announcement published by the Gazette in May of 1922 celebrating “32 Years Today”. It contained the following statement: “We do not arrogate to ourselves supremacy in our vocation. Only popular verdict, not self-glorification, can place one on such a pedestal.” It is truly our desire that our clients will experience a level of professionalism and service that will continue to set us apart.

Haley Realty

Haley Realty began business in Colorado Springs in 1947.  From the beginning, the focus of Haley Realty included property management, real estate brokerage and casualty insurance sales. 

In 1979, Charles and Margaret Oliver purchased the company from her parents, Nelson and Roberta Haley.  Since that purchase, a planned effort was initiated to expand the scope of management services.  The insurance division was sold in 1984 to provide additional time to concentrate on property management and related brokerage services.  In 1995, Haley Realty began expansion into Community Association management and more than tripled the size of the portfolio. 

Haley Realty’s philosophy is simple: “We believe in quality service, performance, communication and integrity."  Association and property managers give individual attention to each property. A multi-faceted approach to property management mixes "state-of-the-art" capabilities with the personal care, required in a basically "people" business.  Mr. Oliver has been involved in the day-to-day management of residential, commercial real estate and homeowner association management since 1978.  This philosophy fits hand in glove with RowCal Colorado and BSR Communities.
